Terms and licence.

Last updated

These terms cover your use of Hammock (the “app”). By downloading or using it, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to trap you.

1. Your licence

Snap, Jump and Color are free forever, as is the notch HUD they draw into — four of the 17. A one-time purchase of $19.99 unlocks the other 13 features, and the notch chips that show battery, devices and what is playing. Your licence is a personal, non-exclusive right to use Hammock on up to 3 Macs that you own or control. It is yours to keep: there is no subscription, and the licence itself never expires. You can free a seat yourself from Settings → General → License on any Mac you are leaving, and use the same key on the next one.

2. Free trial

Every install begins with a 14-day trial of all paid features. When the trial ends, Hammock reverts to the free tier — it never locks you out and never nags. You get a notification two days before the end and one on the day. Rolling your clock back or deleting preferences will not mint a fresh trial.

3. Updates

Your purchase includes 1 year of updates. After that year the version you have keeps working, indefinitely — you simply stop receiving new ones, and renewing is optional. Updates are delivered through the app.

4. What you may not do

  • Resell, redistribute or sublicense the app or licence keys.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to defeat the licensing beyond what the law permits.
  • Use the app to break the law or someone else’s rights.

If you use the Shelf’s share links, you are responsible for what you upload and for who you send a link to — anyone holding the full link can download and decrypt the file. Links carry at most 95 MB and expire after the period you choose, 7 days by default. We may remove content that is unlawful or that we are legally required to remove, though since the file is encrypted with a key we never receive, we cannot inspect it. What we hold and for how long is set out in the privacy policy.

6. Refunds

Purchases are handled by Polar, our merchant of record, who also issues the receipt and handles any sales tax or VAT. If Hammock is not for you, email us within 14 days of purchase and we will arrange the refund through Polar. The 14-day trial exists precisely so that you can decide before paying.

7. Warranty

Hammock is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We work hard to make it reliable and fail-safe, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to what you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Hammock’s maker is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
